The Department of Mathematics has about 25 tenure(-track) faculty and 25 contract faculty whose research interests extend over a wide range of areas in applied, computational and pure mathematics, statistics and math education. Besides our primary focus on undergraduate instruction, we offer a Masters program in mathematics with about 20 students. Excellence in both teaching and scholarship are hallmarks of the department. The Department of Mathematics values diversity highly, and strongly encourages applications from a broad range of candidates.

Western Washington University has about 650 faculty and 15,000 students. It is located in Bellingham on a hill overlooking Bellingham Bay. Bellingham, a city of approximately 85,000, is a physically and culturally active, environmentally friendly, liberal family community with access to good schools. Its proximity to Seattle (90 miles), Vancouver (55 miles), the ocean, lakes and mountains, provides access to many recreational opportunities as well as to metropolitan facilities and major international companies and research institutions.
