The Burau representation of the braid group \(B_n\) is notoriously not faithful for \(n\geq 5\). In this talk, we introduce the braid group, a generalization of the Burau representation, and discuss the faithfulness of this so-called colored-Burau representation. Finally, we demonstrate an application of the answer to the faithfulness question.
